How we’re educating local communities with our Banking Online Safely events

22 August 2024

Our Bendigo Bank Banking Online Safely events have helped hundreds of Australians feel more confident online.

We want our customers to feel empowered to engage online with confidence. Our Banking Online Safely events are designed to do exactly that. Online safety is more important than ever as scam activity continues to rise. These sessions exist to help our customers understand:

  • How to bank safely online
  • How to get digitally connected
  • How to use digital banking controls to protect from and respond to fraud and scams.

Banking Online Safely events

Our Banking Online Safely events have been designed to connect people with our experienced team at the Bank in an environment they’re familiar with. Being able to get hands-on, in-person support can be transformational for your online confidence and capability.

What is taught at Banking Online Safely events?

These sessions run for 30 minutes (with additional time for questions) and focus on a range of digitally-relevant topics. These include:

  • Using the Bendigo Bank app to conduct simple transactions online.
  • Spotting a scam in emails, text messages and phone calls.
  • Protecting yourself and your personal information online.
  • Building confidence using digital solutions in everyday life.

The events are taught at Bendigo Bank community branches. They are also delivered in partnership with rotary clubs, football clubs and other community groups.

The importance of online safety

The prevalence of scams is broadening, and more and more people are being targeted.

As hundreds of thousands of scams are reported each year in Australia, digital confidence, capability and vigilance is more important than ever to help protect you online.

With the help of our Banking Online Safely sessions, people who don’t feel confident in spotting a scam, protecting themselves, or reaching out for help if something isn’t right can get support to grow their online confidence and capacity.
