$196,000 to help fix social problems
In November 2021, the community bank branch of Bendigo Bank in Bayswater committed $700,000 to four brand new programs to tackle family and domestic violence and homelessness and help at-risk young people.
One of these non for profits was Orana House. After 3 years of funding to employ a child advocate worker ($150,000), the position has made a significant difference supporting those affected by family and domestic violence.
As a result of their invaluable work in this space, the board decided to further support the role plus two part time mentors for the next 2 years. This funding will allow them to increase the number of days for their advocate and as well as allocate additional hours each week for the youth mentors.
We know that the problem Orana House is tackling is far greater than any funds we could ever provide but we are also aware that Orana House and the Switch centre they are running is helping many families start a new and safer journey through life with care and compassion.
We would not be able to do this without the support of our customers or shareholders so on behalf of Orana House, we thank you for your continued loyalty.
