Bank welcomes work experience students
Bendigo and Adelaide Bank welcomed 2017’s first group of work experience students at the Bendigo Centre last week.
This year’s program will see 50 students from ten Bendigo Schools participate in this hands on workplace learning experience between July and November this year.
Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s Executive Engagement Innovation, Robert Musgrove said the work experience program is a perfect example of how the Bank is committed to investing in future generations.
“As one of the largest local employers, we have the opportunity to play an important role in shaping the education and employment opportunities of young people.
“Many of these students come to us unsure about what their future employment looks like. We hope that by hosting these students we open them up to a new world of occupational opportunities and pathways that can help shape their considerations about their future,” Mr. Musgrove said.
The program has proven very popular with all 50 places already booked. It has been designed to provide students with real world examples of how the Bank operates.
During their time at the Bank the students will work within five different head office streams, including information technology, legal, properties, and the teams that support the Bank’s partnerships, customers, and Community Bank network.
The five streams provide a diverse view of the different employment opportunities on offer at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank.
The week culminates in a two hour “Ready for Work” workshop. The workshop will cover hints and tips about resumes, budgeting, superannuation and tax, finishing off with mock interviews and feedback.
Girton Grammar student Jagan Woods said his placement with the Information Technology team provided him with an interesting insight into the variety of jobs on offer.
“There was a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere in the Bank, and all the staff were happy to help.
“I have learned a lot about the internal processes of IT,” Mr Woods said.
Bendigo and Adelaide Bank look forward to welcoming all work experience students this year from participating schools - Bendigo Senior Secondary College, Bendigo South East College, Catholic College, Creek Street Christian College, Crusoe College, Eaglehawk Secondary College, Girton Grammar, Marist College, Victory Christian College and Weeroona College.
