Big Heart Project final tally announced
Not only did Love Your Sister's Big Heart Project create the biggest heart in the world, but the generosity of the public saw them raise $2,535,680.25 for cancer research.
Bendigo Bank partners Prosegur finished counting 26 barrels of coins that filled the big heart at the Lyneham Netball Courts in Canberra on 10 May, with the final coin count $306,362.95 of the overall total.
Executive Engagement Innovation Robert Musgrove was not surprised by the overwhelming support for this event.
"As a longtime supporter and partner of Love your Sister, we were thrilled to be part of the recent world record attempt, with all 530 Bendigo Bank branches across Australia acting as collection points for the Big Heart Project donations.
"The staggering final tally really shows how much Connie and Samuel's determination and courage has captured the hearts and minds of Australians," Mr Musgrove said.
The Big Heart Project was the final fundraising act of Love your Sister brainchild Connie Johnson. Connie and her brother Sam have become two of Australia's leading advocates for breast cancer.
Connie's health has recently declined and she has stopped all treatment. The Big Heart Project was her chance to break the world record before taking time out to spend with her family.
