New Bendigo Tennis facility hosts roadshow
Bendigo Tennis served up a winning location when it played host to the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Roadshow last week.
The roadshow, held in the Watercourt function rooms, was one of the first events since the new complex officially opened on Sunday 5th November.
For Bendigo Bank Regional Manager, Jodie McLeod, to hold the event at the new facility was an easy choice.
"Bendigo Bank has been a long-time supporter of Bendigo Tennis. When we needed a local venue for our event, we immediately thought of the brand new Bendigo Tennis facility."
"The past eight years have seen us provide in excess of $80,000 to Bendigo Tennis, allowing more people to access grass roots tennis at an affordable price," Mrs. McLeod said.
In fact, the new facilities will be used by more than 70,000 on court participants each year. 50,000 of them are local players involved in the many social, development and competitive opportunities offered daily.
"The brand new facilities are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff at Bendigo Tennis and their partners, and it is wonderful to see their vision come to life," Mrs. McLeod added.
"Bendigo Bank have been a long-term supporter of Bendigo Tennis, providing both financial support and advocacy towards our ongoing operations and redevelopment vision," Bendigo TA Executive Officer Leon Retallick said.
'It was fantastic to be able to host Mike Hirst, Managing Director, and the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Roadshow in our brand new venue, which overlooks the beautiful Lake Weeroona precinct."
The project to redevelop the complex was a joint initiative of three levels of government, and three levels of tennis. In addition to the new function rooms, the project will deliver four Grand Slam standard ATP level plexicushion courts, three dedicated hot shots courts, expansion of the carpark and entry, new clubhouse with café, administration areas, change rooms and child safety play areas, permanent grandstand seating and upgrades to lighting and existing court bases.
