Bendigo Bank activates assistance package for customers affected by Ex-Cyclone Alfred in South-East Queensland and Northern NSW

Bendigo Bank customers in South-East Queensland and Northern NSW affected by severe weather and flooding following Ex-Cyclone Alfred are being offered financial relief with a range of measures available to eligible customers.

Bendigo Bank Chief Customer Officer Consumer Banking Taso Corolis said the Bank stood ready to support any customer in need of assistance. “Ex-Cyclone Alfred is having a devastating impact on many of our customers and communities. As always, we’re here to help in any way we can,” Mr Corolis said. 

“We have activated our natural disaster assistance package and want any of our customers that are impacted to know we are here to support them, over the phone, online or in branch where it is safe to do so. For the safety of our staff, our branches in the affected areas remain temporarily closed for business for the time being,” he said. 

Bendigo Bank’s Assistance Package features for cyclone and flood affected customers  

  • Customers can apply for relief on their home, personal and business loans for up to three months 
  • Bendigo Bank Agribusiness customers can apply for relief on loans for up to six months
  • Discounted interest rates on new personal loans taken out by existing Bendigo Bank customers
  • Credit cards and business credit cards can apply for deferral of repayments for up to three months
  • Waiver of interest rate reduction for early withdrawals on term deposits prior to maturity
  • No 'loan break' costs for customers with a fixed rate who use an insurance payment to pay out their loan
  • Merchant rental fees may be waived for impacted businesses
  • Waiver of staff assisted service fee and refunds of Bank@Post fees in affected areas
  • Temporary overdraft on eligible transaction accounts of up to $1000 for up to 31 days with nil interest and nil application fee
  • Temporary 60-day credit card limit increase up to $1000 (maximum amount)
