Bendigo Bank’s Western Victoria Bushfire Appeal has raised an impressive $90,000. This is thanks to the incredible generosity of individuals and organisations. The first grant has already made a meaningful impact.
Blazeaid is a volunteer-based organisation dedicated to assisting rural communities after natural disasters. They received a grant of almost $10,000. This funding has been allocated to support essential facilities, such as showers, at the Blazeaid camp in Buangor.
CEO of Blazeaid, Melissa Jones, said the funds have assisted greatly with setting up the Blazeaid camp. Volunteers would be working to help repair farm fences destroyed in the fires.
“I want to thank those who have generously supported the appeal and in turn supported our organisation to strengthen and rebuild this community”.
The Bendigo Bank 2024 Western Bushfire Appeal, facilitated by the Bank’s charitable arm Community Enterprise Foundation, has been instrumental in driving this initiative. Significant support was provided by Community Bank branches from Beaufort and Avoca. Each contributed $10,000 to kick off the appeal, the momentum continues to grow.
Community Bank Beaufort Chair, Alan McCartney, said homes were lost and farm infrastructure damaged. Many loses included shedding, fencing and stock. Community Banks in the affected districts wanted to do everything they could to help the local community get through this challenging time.
“We are so proud the Appeal has already raised $90,000. The rest of the funds are to be allocated over the medium and longer term based on where the community most needs them. We will work in close consultation of community leaders, businesses, and organisations.”
