Kangaroo Island’s 61st annual Parndana Show was a free event for the first time in its history. All thanks to funding provided through the South Australian Bushfire Disaster Appeal.
The Parndana Agricultural, Horticultural and Floricultural Show is a local country show in the heart of KI. It has been synonymous with the second Saturday of November for more than six decades.
Significant financial challenges faced Parndana Show Society following last summer's bushfires and current pandemic. They needed to deliver a COVID-19 safe event in line with government regulations and restrictions.
As a result the South Australian Bushfire Advisory Committee recommended a grant of $20,000 to cover the entry fees for all show attendees and traders. It was the first time in its 61-year history that the show was fully accessible to the entire KI community for free.
The South Australian Bushfire Advisory Committee was established to assist with the allocation and distribution of Bendigo Bank’s South Australian Bushfire Disaster Appeal funds.
