Things you should know
The Debit Mastercard is only available to persons aged 16 years and over and Australian Citizens and permanent residents.
*Other fees may apply to your account. Overseas purchases may be charged a fee. $3 Debit Card fee applies when you have a Bendigo Bank Debit Mastercard linked to a Bendigo Bank account (fee does not apply when linked to the Everyday Account, Easy Retirement Account, Student Account or Concession Account). This fee is charged to the account on the first calendar day of the month. Interest is charged if funds are from an overdraft are accessed.
#When pressing 'credit ' on your debit card the transaction won't hit your account straight away. However the funds will be placed on hold until the amount is debited from your account.

What do I need to know?
Before you turn 18 you’ll need to call us on 1300 236 344 to upgrade to a Debit Mastercard.
Transactions relating to alcohol, tobacco, and gambling are restricted on the Youth Debit Mastercard.^
If the Youth Debit Mastercard is used to make an unsuitable purchase, we will (where possible) block the transaction.
New account
You will need to open a Student Account:
- 12-13 year olds will need to contact their local Bendigo Bank branch to apply, with a parent or guardian.
- 14-15 year olds can apply online.
To apply for an account all parties must provide identification.
Existing account holder
If you already have a Student Account:
- And are 12-13 years old, you and your parent or guardian will need to contact your local Bendigo Bank branch to apply for a card.
- If you are 14-15 years old, call us to apply for a card.

^As at 31 July 2023 the relevant Merchant Category Codes (each an “MCC”) are restricted: MCC 7995 (Gambling Transactions); MCC 9754 (Gambling); MCC 5993 (Cigar Stores and Stands); MCC 5921 (Package Stores, Beer Wine, Liquor); MCC 5813 (Bars, Cocktail Lounges, Discotheques, Nightclubs, and Taverns – Drinking Places); MCC 7273 (Dating Services); MCC 5967 (Direct Marketing – Inbound Telemarketing Merchants); MCC 7297 (Massage Parlours); MCC 5122 (Drugs, Drug Proprietors, and Druggists Sundries – Online only); and MCC 5912 (Drug Stores, Pharmacies – Online only).
